    Syntactic Structures was a book written by Noam Chomsky which marked a shift in linguistic theory which allowed a true which had a lasting impact on the study of language. Through said novel he produced the his theory of transformational-generative grammar. Through his theory, he argued that the structure of a sentence can be derived from a abstract level. It was a critique of behaviorism which argued that the complexity of language comes from a mentalistic cognitive approach
  • Language and Mind (1968)

    The novel Language and Mind explores Chomsky's theories of cognitive science. He theorized of that humans have an innate grammar that is engrained with grammar with an inherent ability to interpret language which opened the doors to the foundations of cognitive functions. This exploration of the relationship of language and the mental process lead to questions revolving the nature of thought, and consciousness.

    In this novel Chomsky explores how the media can shape public opinion to promote the interests of special interests of mega conglomerates. The work argues how through the media these special interests can persuade the public in almost every field of day to day life; especially in the realms of politics and materialism. The idea of "manufactured consent" comes from the reality that this mass manipulation of the populace is unbeknownst to the audience at large. This control continues unchecked
  • "Failed States: The Abuse of Power and the Assault on Democracy" (2006)

    In "Failed States" the actions and policies of powerful nations with an emphasis of USA, and its affects on civil liberties, and governance. This novel ventures into said ideals by exploring the injustices wrought from foreign an domestic policy. An interesting example of this is the after math of 9/11 and the civil liberties sacrificed in the name of a vaugue premise of safety. Justifications of military interventions that followed lead to mass injustices abroad in the name of fighting terror.
