The US Army peppered Chapultepec Castle with artillery and then stormed it, finally leading to a Mexican surrender. -
Treaty of Guadelupe Hidalgo
Negotiatiors signed a treaty in which Mexico would give up or cede 55% of it's land to the US in return for 15 million dollars to pay for war damages.
