NES
Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is launched. The first Nintendo Console which blew up worldwide. People were obsessed with this new technology. It was an 8-bit system and captured the heart of fans. Uemura Masayuki designed this console after Hiroshi Yamauchi said he needed a console that ran on cartridges -
The Super Nintendo Entertainment System
The graphics quality was bumped up to 16-bit. Even though it was a step up this released around the time Sega was releasing consoles. It did not sell as well as the NES. Masayuki Uemura was the lead director in this project. -
The Nintendo 64
The Nintendo 64 was now introducing 3D graphics. Well not 3D to us, 3D to us is when things jump out at us. 3D to this console is just not 8-bit and now the player can see different shading on the characters. This was A HUGE STEP for Nintendo. However it did not sell as well as the Playstation. Shigeru Miyamoto is the lead in this. -
The GameCube
The GameCube was the first console to use discs for video games, and required additional memory cards. It blew the Playstation2 out of the water. Shigeru Miyamoto is the lead creator. -
Nintendo Wii
This is the month and year where Nintendo decided to launch their idea of the Wii and then in September actually launch the Wii. The motion controls were out of this world for people. Shigeru Miyamoto was the lead.
This console leads to later consoles such as the Wii U and even the Nintendo Switch. However I am already stretching it with keeping it in the decade.
