Video Games have evolved tremendously from arcade designations to being homebound. Ever since Nintendo created the first color home game console, video games have drastically changed and shaped the way we play and connect. Nintendo achievements and failures have opened the way to gamers across the world by providing a family friendly atmosphere and coming up with ways of playing that could appeal to anyone. -

Starting out as a prominent card game business, Nintendo has evolved and become a world wide phenomenon. With its memorable characters and games, Nintendo has created a system of gaming that is cheap, accessible, comfortable, and friendly to the family and the public to use. While all of their new ways of gaming seem to improve every year with no major signs of failure, Nintendo's run doesn't seem to be dying out anytime soon, and it's New ideas for gaming does not seem to have stopped either. -
The Start of Nintendo
Nintendo was founded in 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi. Nintendo was a small business that profited off of selling hand painted Hanafuda playing cards. Four decades later Nintendo became the largest playing card company in Japan.

Shigeru Miyamoto
The foundation of Nintendo's current success was created by Mr. Miyamoto. Mr. Miyamoto created famous Nintendo characters like Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda.

Color TV-Game 6
A Japan exclusive home console. The Color TV-Game 6 was the first color TV game ever released. It contained six different versions of Pong and sold over a million units. This Unit was successful because compared to other come consoles it was much cheaper which allowed easy public access.

Color TV-Game 15
The sequel console to the Color TV-Game 6 because of it's success. It contained 16 variations of pong compared to its original at 6. This console also had detachable controllers where as the originals were built in to the console.

Color TV Racing 112
The third installment to the Color TV series. This introduced a steering wheel mechanic deviating from the first two tennis consoles created.

Color TV Block Kursure
The Color TV Block Kursure was Nintendo's first console created entirely by them. It was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and sold over 400 thousand units.

Computer TV Game
The final installation of the Color TV home console series. It was created as a remake to Nintendo's Computer Othello arcade game.

Nintendo's first console with inter exchangeable cartridges. It sold almost 64 million units worldwide. Known as Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in the US. The NES Introduced famous game series like Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, and Megaman worldwide. It was remodeled and called the Nintendo Entertainment System (Model NES-101) in 1993

Game Boy
The Game Boy was Nintendo's first handheld system. It was very successful worldwide because of its cheap price compared to the market, long battery life, and extensive catalog. The Super Game Boy was an accessory created after to allow the owner to play Game Boy games on the TV screen. Game Boy Color sold 118 million units including the Game Boy

Sharp Nintendo Television
In partnership with Sharp, Nintendo created a TV with a built in NES. This TV was released in Japan in 1983.

Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
The second home console released by Nintendo internationally. Created sequels to Mario and Legend of Zelda games with each selling over one million copies. This product was also know as the Super Famicon. The SNES was remodeled later as the SNES 2 in 1997 as well.

Nintendo 64 (N64)
First known as "Project: Reality," Nintendo had created their third mainline home console in its series. What made the N64 different was its use of 3d models. It also created some of the most well regarded games of all time including Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64.

Game Boy Light
The Game Boy Light was created to improve upon the Game Boy Pocket with a more comfortable design and a better display. This was also the template for the Game Boy Color which basically just added new color designs and a infrared wireless link-up port.

Satoru Iwata
Satoru Iwata became the 4th CEO of Nintendo in 2000. He was apart of some of the most monumental achievements in gaming. Mr. Iwata was apart of the creation of the DS, Wii, 3DS, and WiiU. His contributions to the company helped expand gaming to worldwide recognition, and enhanced family gaming.

Game Boy Advanced (GBA)
The Game Boy Color was final installation of the Game Boy lineage. It has backwards compatibility with the the Game Boy and Gameboy Color. The GBA sold about 81 million units.

Nintendo GameCube
Nintendo's fourth entry to this home console series. This console came in four different colors. The GameCube could also be connected to a Gameboy Color allowing different types of playing games.

Panasonic Q
Panasonic Q was created as a competitive measure against Playstation and others on the market because the Nintendo GameCube lacked Cd and DVD playback functionalities.

Nintendo DS
The Nintendo DS also known as Nintendo Developers System or Dual Screen was the successor the the Game Boy Series. The Nintendo DS had many iterations such as the DS lite which had a more sleek and accessible design, the DSi which had a camera and a few functionalities, and DSi XL which was an enlarged version of the DSi. All DS' sold 154 million units.

Wii
Nintendo's fifth major home console release was the Wii. The Nintendo Wii sold 100 million units worldwide landing it at the fourth highest selling console of all time. A recreation called the Wii mini was made in 2012. The Wii is a family oriented console which appealed to many homes.

Nintendo 3DS
The Nintendo 3DS is Nintendo's eight generation hand held console. It introduced Street Pass and Spot pass which were features that rewarded owners for being in the vicinity of other 3DS owners. This made bringing your 3DS with you easier and more enjoyable as you get to meet others who potential share the same interest. The 3DS series included a 2DS and 3DSXL.

Wii U
Project Cafe, also known as the Wii U is Nintendo's sixth home console. Selling only about 13 million units in its lifetime, the Wii U was Nintendo's worse console profit wise.

The Nintendo Switch, formally know as the NX in development, is Nintendo's Seventh Major home console. This console is unique because of its grab and go functionality. It can be played at home on a dock which projects its screen to your TV, or you can pick it up and play on the go. The Nintendo Switch sold about 55 Million Copies.

The Nintendo Switch Lite is Nintendo's most recent creation. The Nintendo Switch Lite is another one of Nintendo's remodeling of a popular console at a cheaper price, expanding its audience. With the price almost being half of its counterpart the Switch Lite broadens its audience and provides the same quality.
