    Nigeria gained independence from Britain under Nnamdi Azikwe in 1960 with Tafewa Balewa as Prime Minister. After 3 years, Nigeria became the Federal Republic of Nigeria with Nnamdi as its President.

    The Beatles broke up in September 1969 but it was announced on the 10th of April, 1970. Some reasons that they broke up were the death of Brian Epstein (1967) and the end of their touring in 1966. Another reason for their split was Harrison growing as a songwriter.

    He planned a coup against Buhari in August 1985. He freed up the amount of control the government had and released former prisoners from state. He still faced economic problems but he got IMF to give the Nation new loans.

    The worst nuclear explosion in history took place on April 25th - 26th in Chernobyl. The explosion was caused by violated protocols by the workers. They tried to stop it but another surge of energy caused the plant to erupt. The firefighters could not put the fire out, so helicopters came to dump sand and other substances to stop the flames. The radiation spread all the way to Sweden. 30% of the 190 metric tons of uranium were released into the air.

    It was sparked by the death of President Juvenal Habyarimana (a Hutu). The French Government blamed Paul Kagame(the current president, a Tutsi).In less than a couple hours, the violence ensued. The tension between the Tutsis and Hutu since colonization. In 1994, after the president's death, his guard started the slaughtering of Tutsis and moderate Hutus. Government soldiers and militia were sent all over to kill Tutsis and even civilians were encouraged to join. 800,000 people died in 100 days.

    The Massacre was “revenge” by the soldiers for killing 19 soldiers. Over 100 people were killed in Benue State. It happened under President Olusegun Obasanjo.

    She was elected as Prime Minister when the dictator, Zai ul-Haq, had died in a plane crash. She was elected just 3 months after she had her baby. She was the first Muslim woman to be the head of a Muslim nation. She was killed in a suicide attack which killed 100 people. She died by hitting her head on the sunroof of her car.

    Boko Haram attack rampaged the North. International borders closed and 50 people were killed in the east of the country. president Jonathan announced a state of emergency and promised to expel Boko Haram from the region.

    Boko Haram attacks increased. Another terrorist group ISWAP captured a town in Borno, which was their first major gain in 2 years. They also captured Baga( in Northeastern Borno) in December 2018. They also attacked a military base and a refugee camp in Rann near the Cameroon border and killed 118 people. Shekau took credit for this attack later on.

    2018 - Black Panther release first marvel movie based on African culture.
    Black Panther was the first Marvel movie to star a black man as the lead. It is also the first Marvel movie to be based on African Culture. Its costumes were inspired by Laduma Ngxokolo (Southern Africa), Ozwald Boateng (Ghanian), and Duro Oluwo (Nigerian) fashion pieces/lines. It also has a predominantly black cast. It got a lot of praise for its and soundtracks and it was ranked in the Top 10 Movies of 2018. The movie also had 7 nominations in 91St Academy Awards.
