John Glenn orbits the earth.
John Glenn was the first American to orbit the moon he was in Friendship 7 (his spacecraft) for 4 hours and 56 minutes during this time he orbited the earth 3 times the was announced January 16, 1962, but was delayed till February 20, 1962. He splashed down 40 miles of the initial point for landing due to some miscalculations from NASA and a false alarm from a warning sensor.
this event was significant because it got rid of the idea that Russia was superior to America. -

Martin Luther King Jr. was a very popular American civil right movement his assassination was felt my most if not all Americans and African Americans. King got black rights through non-violent means he was like a beacon of hope to African Americans, once news got in that he was dead African Americans rioted (not non-violently) this man’s death cost many other lives.
The assassination of MLK was significant due to the mass effect it had on both races it brought them closer together. -

Wole Soyinka, for the most part, he was a playwright though he wrote novels he was also a lecturer sought after. Wole Soyinka was the first African to be given Nobel Prize in Literature. It marked a brighter way for Africa as Wole Soyinka was the first African person to be awarded a Nobel Prize in this are. -
Gulf War
The Gulf War was caused due to Kuwait being invaded Iraq. Iraq did this because it would cancel debts and increase Iraq’s regional power due to the mass amount of oil Kuwait held. The UN Security Council ordered Iraq to leave Kuwait, 3 days later they had sent out a worldwide ban on trade with Iraq and by November 29 was authorized to use force against Iraq. The Gulf War was important because it helped Kuwait pressure Saddam into repaying war loans and put an end to ongoing border disputes. -

It was the third general election since the end of military rule in 1999. The next president Umaru Yar'Adua took over on May 29.
