    Bohr's Atomic Model
Bohr stated that when electrons gain energy, they move to a higher orbit around the nucleus and when they lose energy, the electrons will move back to their ground state and emit light energy (5.6: Bohr's Atomic Model). This redifined how scientists percieved atoms and created the base of quantum physics.

Bohr's Nobel Prize in Physics for the Atomic Model in 1922
Niels Bohr stated that energy within an atom is transferred only in certain quantities that are well defined in quantom theory (Niels Bohr - Facts). Bohr proposed that electrons moved around the nucleus in prescribed orbits and, when jumping to different orbits, emit light in fixed wavelengths (Niels Bohr - Facts). This was adopted as the main atomic model in 1922.

    Bohr's Complimentarity Principle
In 1928, Niels Bohr announced his Complimentarity Principle, which states that items can be studied with properties that oppose each other but, when viewed together, help paint a bigger picture and explain the item even better (Complimentarity Principle). This started breakthroughs in quantum physics by introducing new ways to study objects.

    Bohr's Impact
Although Bohr passed away in 1962, his philosophies and work has lived on to this day as a major stepping stone in quantum mechanics. His work on the atomic model and complimentarity principles opened up many doors for physicists and led to many future breakthroughs in quantum mechanics. Bohr even started an institute dedicated to the field of physics which is still in operation today. Below is a link to a video that describes Bohr's atomic model.
