Born on October 7,1885
Niels Bohr was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. His father was a Professor of Physiology at University of Copenhagen. His mother, Ellen, also had a family background of education. Bohr also had a younger brother named Harald who eventually grew up to become a professor in mathematics. With this rich family background rooted in science and learning, it's no wonder Bohr became interested in science himself. -

Time at University of Copenhagen
Bohr's time at University was very productive. He took tutelage up under Professor C. Christiansen who was a renowned physicist. Bohr received his Masters degree in 1909 and his PhD in 1911 in physics. -
First Prize and Published Paper
Niels Bohr received a gold medal from the Academy of Sciences in Copenhagen by creating a solution for finding surface tension between liquids by the oscillating-jet technique. The oscillating-jet technique was originally used to find the surface tension between gases and liquids but then was used to find the surface tension between two liquids. His paper was published in the Transactions of the Royal Society. -
Bohr's Creates a Model of an Atom
This is when he rolled out the first set of three papers that included a model of the atom. This important revelation eventually landed him the Nobel Prize for this work in 1922. He continued to work with other researchers after his initial papers to fully explain the complexity of the atom. Here is a CrashCourse video on the history of the atomic chemistry. Nobel Prize in Physics and the
The Narrative for Bohr's Nobel Prize was “for his services in the investigation of the structure of atoms and of the radiation emanating from them”. This was the award he received from the series of papers he wrote about the structure of an atom which is referred to Bohr's atom. -

Manhattan Project
Niels Bohr was known during this project as Nicholas Baker. This was due to the high security around this project. This is where the nuclear bomb was created. He didn't have a huge role in this project but mostly referred to as an advisor. -
Death
