Niels Bohr, 7 October 1885-18 November 1962
He describes the Bohr atomic model. This is the idea of the atom consisting of the protons and neutrons in the middle of the atom together and the electrons circling around it. The model had a major influence on thinking since it was very similar of how the solar system looked like. -

Founded the Danish Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Copenhagen. Opened in 1921. It is now called the Bohr Institute This is the place he developed one of his major theories about the modeling of movement of the electrons inside an atom. -

He received the Nobel price for his model of the possible movement of the electrons inside the atom. It is also called the Bohr model -

Erwin Schroedinger who has been working with Niels Bohr previously publishes his paper "The Quantization as an Eigenvalue Problem" This work is about wave mechanics and among many other things also proves that while Bohr model is useful in certain case to model the atomic structure it is incorrect when studying quantum physics, atomic particles.

Helped to create CERN in which now is located the largest Hadron Collider in the world. An enormous tunnel below the surface. It has been instrumental in a research for the Higgs-Boson particle.
