An Air New Zealand sightseeing flight flying over Antarctica crashed into Mt. Erebus after not being informed of a cordinate change. 257 people died. -
Springbok Tour
During the 1981 rugby Springbok tour, there were lots of protestants against having a black team play in New Zealand.
On one occasion, protesters managed to break through a fence and disrupt a game so much that it was cancelled. -
