The Statue of Liberty arrives at New York Harbor from France. It came to America in 350 peices, which are packed in 214 crates. The Statue of Liberty is copper. Now it is green because it aged and got rusty. -
The Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is completed. It is 102 stories tall. If you go to the top of the building, you will have a bird's eye view of the city that's down below you. It was the tallest building in the world once it was finished in 1931. -

Franklin D. Roosevelt is elected president. He promised a New Deal to The United States of America. He was faced with leading the country out of the Great Depression, and later he would have to face World War II. -

The World's Fair takes place in New York City. It is a big event. Some of the activities are about the future. -
9/11
Terrorists attack the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The attack kills thousands of people. The twin towers were demolished. The attack was not imaginable. The day is a very important and sad day in the U.S.A. Flags around the U.S.A. are hung half mast.
