  • Agriculture Adjustment Administration

    Agriculture Adjustment Administration
    The AAA aided farmers and regulated crop production. They paid farmers to not plant crops on parts of their property and to kill excess livestock. It's purpose was to raise the value of crops. The act ended in 1936.
  • National Recovery Administration

    National Recovery Administration
    The NRA established codes of fair competition by bringing industry, labor and government together to create fair prices. This also helped reduce unemployment and increase wages and hours. They created 557 basic codes and 208 supplementary codes which affected 22 million workers. It was invalidated in 1935 by the supreme court.
  • Federal Housing Administration

    Federal Housing Administration
    The FHA was created sometime in 1934. THey revolutionized home ownership by creating our current financial mortgaging system. They have insured over 35 million home mortgages and over 47,000 multi family projects. This Administration is still in tact today.
  • Works Progress Administration

     Works Progress Administration
    The WPA tried to create as many job as they could in a very short amount of time. The jobs could be anywhere from construction to having positions in the orchestra. They created 8.5 millions jobs to people in 1.4 million projects. They also funded students who worked under the National Youth Administration. It ended in 1943.
  • Rural Electrification Administration

    Rural Electrification Administration
    The REA provided affordable electricity for isolated rural areas. THe REA helped establish 417 rural electrical corporations which provided electricity to 288,000 households. They also encouraged private utilities to countrysides as well. This ended in 1994.
  • National Youth Administration

    National Youth Administration
    The NYA provided job training for unemployed young people and part-time jobs for needy students, They focused on providing jobs for Americans between the ages of 16 and 25. The students in return had to work part-time at their schools. This program ended in 1939.
  • Social Security Administration

    Social Security Administration
    The SSA provided a penison for retired workers and their spouses and aided people with disabilities. This provides cheap income and living for people who struggle to live day to day. It also provides medicare to those in need. Over seven million people are covered by Social Security today. This is an ongoing Administration.
  • United States Housing Authority

    United States Housing Authority
    The USHA was created sometime in 1937 and it provided federal loans for low-cost public housing. They would also clear slum like units and create places for low income Americans to live. They provided shelter for over 650,000 homeless people and poor Americans. This helped improve the quality of life for many people. It got changed to the Reorginization Act number three in 1947.
  • Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act

    Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act
    The FDC required manufacturers to list ingredients in foods, drugs, and cosmetic products. They needed to prove items were safe before putting them on the market. This also helped to make sure that there was proper use of packaging and quality. This act is still enforced today.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act

    Fair Labor Standards Act
    The FLSA established a minimum hourly wage and a maximum number of hours in the workweek for the entire country. They also set rules for the employment of workers under 16 and banned hazardous factory work for those under 18. This act also provided standars for equal pay, overtime pay, record keeping, and child labor. This Act got changed in 1938 to increase the minimum wage and it continues to change today.
