History of NCAA
In the US the inter-collegiate sport began in 1852 with Yale and Harvard challanging each other in a rowing race. Later on more sports emerged with the same concept and standards. Football was the only sport that they had to change according to games that were played. T.Roosevelt wanted to change some of the rules because of so many head injuries. -
Conception date of the league
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) starts their league. -
Level of Divisions
In 1973 Division 1,2,3 was adapted by the NCAA membership. -
Division Ability
D1 and D2- These colleges/universities can offer scholarship to high school athletes.
D3- Most D3 colleges/universities do not offer scholarships.
D1- are usually large schools, where D2 and D3 are smaller -
NCAA expans
The 75th convention approved to expand the womans athletic program. -

Nike gives $200,000 to $2 million a year to colleges for the teams to wear their sponsering jerseys -
