Concluding that his father would leave him an inheritance sufficient to facilitate a comfortable life, he neglected to have urgency in his studies of medicine.     Being the young and promising naturalist Darwin was, he set sail on the Beagle armed with the recommendation of his Cambridge mentor Professor Henslow.
