An unusual event for this area, numerous tornadoes touched down in New York and Pennsylvania with some reaching F2 to F3 intensity. There was also a High Risk for Severe Thunderstorms, which had never been issued for the Northeastern United States and never has been since. -

Many public transportations, highways, and bridges were closed due to Hurricane Sandy. More than 1.2 million were without power and there were 14 deaths.
