This was due to the Indians being blamed for several attacks on some white settlements.
  • Battle of Tippecanoe

Indians were convinced to stop fighting against each other and fight against the people trying to fight them. William Henry Harrison made a decision to attack and burn down Propetstown.
  • Indian Removal Bill

    Indian Removal Bill
Then-President Andrew Jackson heavily pushed the bill even though many legislators deemed it to be immoral. The "genius" thought that the settlers had a divinely ordained right to use the land for themselves and destroy it for hoes and crops. And he came up with the "brilliant" idea to just push out more than three dozen eastern tribes from their homes.

  • Indian Appropriations Act

    Indian Appropriations Act
It was an act that would "graciously" establish reservations that Indians were pushed onto. It was to make sure that Native Americans would stay out of the way of the "poor white Americans" settling into the Indian's land. It established these reservations in Oklahoma and inspired other reservations to be made in other states.
  • Mankato Executions

The Dakota Sioux People were promised foods that were never delivered. So when they were starving they raided nearby white farms for food. It led to 300+ men being sentenced to death. And a day after Christmas 38 Dakotas were all hung at once. It would be the largest mass execution in American history.
  • The Sand Creek Massacre

    The Sand Creek Massacre
A group of 700 men, led by a former Methodist minister named John Chivington, killed any and all Indians that were on the frontier fighting back. It was a surprise attack on the peaceful Cheyennes and Arapahos on THEIR reservations. People were slaughtered by these 700 mean who were also drunk, a lot of the victims being innocent people.

  • Battle of the Little Bighorn

General George Armstrong Custer led a group of 600 soldiers into the Little Bighorn Valley. They were met with strong resistance from around 3,000 Sioux and Cheyenne warriors, led by Crazy Horse, who overwhelmed them.
  • The Dawes Act

    The Dawes Act
The Dawes Act of 1887 made it possible for the federal government to take tribal land and split it into individual plots. This was done so that the Native Americans could "assimilate" into the basic US society, stripping them of all their cultural and social traditions. The result was 90 million acres being stripped from the very people who had claimed it to begin with (the Native Americans) and giving in to the non-native rats- I mean people.
