CortesCortes invaded Mexico in 1519 when he arrived he sank all the ships that they had came on so that nobody could retreat. He then finds a group of Natives that were enmies of the Aztecs to help him achieve his goal. -

Las CasasHe went to the New World to find some type of new oppurtunity. There he published Brief Relations of the Destruction of the Indies. Which was later used to gain control. -
Founding of Jamestown
jamestown On this day, Colonists from the London Company stumbled upon Jamestown in Viriginia. The indians decided to attack them not long after their arrival. This is where the captain was captured by Native Americans. -
King Phillips War
king phillips war This was the Native American's last try to get rid of the Engkish settlers. The war ended in August 1676 after Metacon was captured and beheaded. -

Bacons Rebellion After moving to Jamestown from England to set up a small plantation Bacon become a well known hero and was asked to go to the House of Burgesses. He became angry after not getting his seat and created a small army to burn things down. -
French and Indian War
French and Indian WarThe French and Indian war was between France and Great Britain. In 1763 they ended this with the Treaty of Paris. The French were determined to show that they had claims on their territory and made it hard for the British to compete especially over the Ohio Valley. This war had long term effect on the Native American tribes in North America by cutting off there supplies. -

Pontiacs War Pontaics War was basically a conclusion of the French and Indian War. When the Indian Tribes of Ohio Valley heard who won they were very angry and upset. They wanted to keep their traditioal ways and since they were Allies of the Frenchmen they wanted to continue that with them. -
Proclamation of 1763
1763 The Proclamation of 1763 was issued after the French and Indian War on October 7th. A Proclamation is used to put out something that is important and in this case it was to all 13 colonies to stop colonial settlers from going westward. Even though this was not suppose to last long, it lasted till the end of Revolution. -
Treaty of Paris
treaty The Treaty of Paris was between the United States and Great Britain to recognize American independence, It is called the Treaty of Paris because that is where it was signed and negotiated. All the land in North America was lost. -

Louisiana Purchase
.The Louisiana Purchase allowed the United States to buy territory from France and the young republic to double in size. President Thomas Jefferson did everything in his power to own the land, including writing letters to the others that had wanted the land. When the United States bought this land it caused the Native Americans to leave their land. -
Lewis and Clark Expedition

Tecumseh and The Prophet
. Tecumseh was the Chief of the Shawnees and his brother was known as the Prophet, they transformed his religious into a political movement. Tecumseh worked out a confederacy of Indian tribes, keeping their ways separate by the Ohio River. -
Creek War
. General Andrew Jackson started this war by not ceding their land to the U.S. government. Most of the land was Alabama and part of southern Georgia.The Indians gathered at the creek to wait upon the Americans' attack. -
Indian Removal Act
. This act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson to be able to exchange lands that are in the state borders. The Cherokees were forced to move out by the US givernment which was then called the "Trail of Tears." -
Worcester V. Georgia
. In this supreme court case the Cherokee Indians wanted a nation with distinct sovereign powers. This did not stop Georgia from removing the Indians. By trying to stop from having to move they illegally intruded into their treaty with the US. -
Trail of Tears
,Trail of Tears basically got its name by the sometimes deadly journy that the Native Americans had to take when leaving their homeland. The Americans were basically scared of the Indians so they tried their best to change them to act like the whites. -
Oregon Trail
. You could only travel the OrgeonTrail by foot or horseback, all the way from Missouri to Oregon Williamette Valley. Most of the first people to travel and see the land were trappers and fur traders.The trail divided two different major Native American tribes. -
Gold discovered in California
, After the Gold Rush had took place the land had showed a huge increase with non-native people compared to what it was in 1848 with mostly natives. San Francisco became an unpleasant, caotic economy to live in. As it got harder to find gold, it led most of the mining away from indepence to wage labor. -
Passage of the Homestead act
. In the western US, this act allowed anybody to put claim for up to 160 free acres of federal land. At one time, before the Civial War, the southern states were totally against homestead. Slowly, individual homesteads were replaced with smaller numbers of much larger farms. -
Sand Creek Massacre
. About 800 Cheyenne Indians in southest Colorado made up the village of Sand Creek. They were promised to not be messed with by a treaty made in 1851. But all of that changed on November 29th when they all gathered together, nothing went right, many of the Cheyennes were killed for no reason. -
Diminished Buffalo Herds
. There were still several buffalo in South America in 1870 but the numbers were drastically decreasing. Hunters began to realize how valuable their hides were and started to shoot them all year round. The Indians had a symbolic relationship with the buffalo, which made it hard for them. -
Gold In the Black Hills, and the Ft. Laramie Treaty
. George Amstrong Custer is the cause for people being found in the most sacred part of Lakota territory, which was only suppose to be for the natives. Hunters came along when they heard of the gold in the Black Hills of Dakota. The treaty was signed to say that only the land could be used by the Sioux people. -
Battle of Little Bighorn
, Sioux and Cheyennes left their lands because of the constant appearance of white intruders into their sacred lands of the Black Hills. The Indians had more force than the Custer men. They caved in on them and basically killed all of them and later went back to strip the bodies. -
Nez Perce War
. The Nez Perce land was beautiful and the whole reason behind the war started when President Ulysses S, Grant allowed white settlement. It was a war between several bands of the Nez Perce tribe of Native Americans and others, against the US Army.
