The Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal Act was signed by President Andrew Jackson. The Indian Removal Act forced Indian tribes to move west of the Mississippi River, this forced relocation resulted in the Trail of Tears. -
The Trail of Tears
The Trail of Tears is what the relocation of Indigenous people, mostly the Cherokee Nation during the 1830's. Other tribes along with the Cherokee were forced to relocate from the east, to the west in harsh conditions: the tribes had very little food,clothes, and were exposed to harsh weather and disease. -
The Civil War
The Civil War was a battle fought for 4 years between the Union and the CFA. The CFA was fighting to preserve slavery and the Union was fighting for the opposite, the Union won the war and abolished slavery. -
The Reconstruction Treaties
The Reconstruction Treaties were made to restore the relationship between the tribes and the federal government. -
The Dawes Act
The Dawes Act was passed by president Grover Cleveland. The Dawes Act divided tribal land to certain groups of natives. -
The Oklahoma land Rush
The Oklahoma Land Rush was an event where thousands of people rushed to the unclaimed lands of former Indian Territory because it was cheap. The Land Rush sped up the downfall of the Indian territory. -
The Indian Reorganization Act
The Indian Reorganization Act was signed into law to let Natives take more control over their lives.
