link1861 Italy becomes reunified as a country in Europe after other countries of Europe deciding to divide Italy as a divided state, even though later on the became reunified. But the deligates still had some hardships between each other . This creating bad relationships contributed to World War I. -
Germany gets reunified

January 1871, Germany gets reunified to Europe after all the other countries of Europe deciding to leave Germany as a divided state, and because of the anger of France Germany had the opertunity to claim some of their land back and jump at the opurtunity -
Development of Social Darwinism
LinkAround this whole century, Charles Darwin's ideas that their own country was the best, and superior over all, started becoming famous. People started taking Social Darwinism as a form of religion over christianity. It completely took over some countries, and strengthened their armies, thus starting a few wars to soon pull everyone into war. -
Triple Alliance
Link-Made up of Germany, Italy, and Austria-Hungrgary. They all agreed to start a war if attacked by Russia, and agreed to remain neutral if attacked by any other country. The original Alliance and growth of these countries were due to Nationalism. The alliances made them feel a sense of security in the protection of their nation. -

Russian War with Japan
linkSince Russia refused Japan's offer in 1903 that both counties would admit common interests, trouble began to arrise. In the end after back and forth attacks the Japanese destroyed the entire Russian fleet at the Battle of Tsushima. Russia lost two torpedp boats. -
Bosnia and Herzgovia
Bosnia and Herzegovina left Austria-Hungary causing bad relationships between the countries and contributing to the begining of ww1. Because of this conflict issues arose because of all the bad relationships between them. With Serbia wanting to declare war, everyone was on gaurd making allies and mobilizing forces. There was no war started but this created harsh relationships between all the countries -

The Balkan War
linkThese disputes were common. In 1912 it continued with war between Italy and Turkey, over the desired African possessions. When Turkey lost they were forced to hand over Libya, Rhodes and the Dodecanese Islands to the Italians. Turkey's troubles continued, trying to make peace with the Italians. The was persisted with no fewer than four small nations over the possession of Balkan territories: Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria - and later Montenegro. -

Archduke Fraz Ferdinand, and wife, Sophie were shot in the city of Sarajevo. Serbia provided weapons to 7 certain people arranged in specific posistions to be sure to kill the two on their way to City Hall.The first bomb missed. But after their meeting, they took the same root, and the landed right in front of Gavrilo Princip, who took two shots, both hitting, and killing the royal couple. This is known to spark the official start of WW1 -

Countries Entering the War
LinkNationalism had taken over many countries and alliances hadn't failed. First, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, then Russia got involved to protect Serbia. Germany delcared war on Russia, which drew in France to attack through Belgium, to fight against Germany and Austria-Hungary. Later, Japan entered the war, which put the United States and and Italy in war to fight with allies. This was when WW1 was at it's first peak. -
Battle of Cantigny
linkThe Battle of Cantigny was the very first major American offensive in the war. Even though it wasn't very big, the Americans fought hard which eventually lead to other fights against German positions.
