Trail of Tears
The Trail of Tears was the removal of the Cherokee tribe. They were forcibly removed by Andrew Jackson's orders. Many Cherokee men, women, and children died along the trail. -
Gold at Sutter's Mill
On this day James Marshall was working on the mill when he discovered gold. When people found out there was gold there it started the California Gold Rush. -
Signing of the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
The signing of this treaty ended the Mexican-American War in Ameirca's favor. The war lasted for about two years. After the treaty was signed we gained Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
