Boston Tea Party
This act did not raise taxes. on December 16 ,1773, colonists dressed as Mohawk Indians took over Brirish ships in Boston ships in Boston Harbor and dumped all the tea in the tea in the water. The colonists dumed the tea bcaues they didn't want to drink it. This event became know as the Boston Tea part. -
Sugar and Samp Act
Britain had gone to war to protect the colonies. British leaders felt it was fair to have the colonies pay part of the debt through taxes and tariffs. A tariff is a tax on imported goods, or products that come from anther country. The Sugar Act of 1764 said that colonists mustpat aa tariff on goods such as molasses and sugar. This foollowed in 1765.
