Forrest Dances with Elvis Presley
When Forrest was young, his mother ran a boarding house in his home. One of the many visitors in Forrest's home was a young Elvis Presley. In the Movie, Elvis plays a song for Forrest, who begins to dance. Because Forrest had to wear braces on his legs, Forrest danced differently than everyone else. Later Forrest sees Elvis Presley dancing to the Hound Dog, the same way Forrest showed him. -

During the movie, Forrest's love Jennie joins the Hippie Movement while Forrest is away. The Hippie's lead Anti-War protest (they did not want the war), and Forrest find himself in one while in Washington D.C. When Forrest is about to Speak to the crowd about what fighting in the Vietnam war is like, the Microphone plug is pulled, and no one hears what he says. -
Forrest Witnesses Racial Integration
Forrest goes to the University of Alabama on a football scholarship. While there Forrest Door. He also helps an African American student with her books wich sparks controversy with Forrest's Football Coach. -
Forrest participates in the Ping Pong Diplomacy
After being shot in Vietnam Forrest goes to rehab where he learns to play Ping Pong. In 1969 He plays ping pong to cheer up the other wounded soldiers. Later, Forrest goes and plays Ping Pong in China as part of the Ping Pong diplomacy. -
Forrest saves Bubba and Lt Dan
In the movie, Forrest Gump fights in the Vietnam War. Forrest fights under the command of Lieutenant Dan, who later becomes his good friend. During the War, Forrest's troop is under fire in the woods, and Forrest goes back and forth bringing his entire troop out of the enemy territory, and to safety. Forrest also joins the Army's Special Services playing ping-pong to cheer up soldiers. -
Forrest Meets John Lennon
During the movie, Forrest Gump goes on The Dick Cavett Show with famous Beetles singer John Lennon. Forrest talks about his trip to China and what all of the people are like. While Forrest does not know it, we can infer that he inspired one of John Lennon's most successful songs from his solo career "Imagine" -
Forrest Sees the Watergate Scandal.
After visiting President Nixion, Forrest returns to his Hotel Room. After seeing strange lights flashing around in the windows across from him, he calls security. While Forrest does not know it, he actually reported the Watergate Scandal, a political scandal that led to the resignation of President Nixion. -
Forrest meets the Black Panthers
During the movie, Forrest finds Jennie in Washington, and she takes him to a Black Panther meeting. The Black Panthers were a racial activism group. They were fighting Black oppression and discrimination. -
Forrest Survives Hurricane Carmen
While working with Lt. Dan at BubbaGump Shrimp Co., Hurricane Carmen hits Lousiana. All of the other shrimping boats are wiped out. This caused Forrest and Lt. Dan to make a huge profit. -
Forrest and Lt. Dan invest in Apple
After Forest's mother gets sick, Forest returns home to see his mom. While at home, Forrest gets a letter from Lt. Dan telling him that they invested in "Some Fruit company". That Fruit company is Apple, wich soon becomes a national hit!
