    Earliest Evidence of Aboriginal Australians

    Archaeologists have discovered many historical items in their time of studying. In Aboriginal history, they have discovered numerous amount of items from up to 65,000 years ago. These range from footprints in the sand, to artefacts in ancient shells. This is just a small part of the story. Aboriginals traditionally believe that they have been part of this country since the time of creation.

    Mungo Lady and Mungo Man

    The Mungo Lady and Mungo Man have been the oldest human remains found outside Africa. This discovery sent waves of shock round the world, and some say that it re-wrote the story of this land. This discovery represented the early people of Australia's spiritual beliefs.

    Otzi the Iceman

    Otzi is a wet mummy that was naturally mummified in the glacier ice after being murdered. The body dehydrated after the length of time that he spent in the snow and ice. Since 1998 the mummy has been preserved under glacier conditions, with high-tech equipment, researchers have found his tissue, bones and organs are all well preserved.

    Mesopotamian Cuneiform

    Cuneiform is a system of writing developed in Mesopotamia by the ancient Sumerians in 3500-3000 BCE. In cuneiform carefully cut out writing tools (styluses), are used to produce wedge-like looking word signs in the clay. Using cuneiform ended in 100 BCE, when the alphabet was introduced.

    Great Pyramid in Egypt

    The fourth king of Egypt, Snerferu 2686-2667 BC, was the first to create the pyramid effect that we associate with Egyptian history. He built three pyramids in all, but the first two were glorious fails. One he had built the red pyramids, he passed the idea to his son, Khufu, who built the first pyramid at Giza.

    Narrabeen Man

    In 2005, contractors were digging at a gas pipeline near a bus stop, when they came across the bones of the Narrabeen Man. This was not a recent murder, but one that happened 4000 years ago. They had found three scars had gone into him, with burn marks to his skull. But the mystery still remains on what actually happened.
  • Victorian Gold Rush

    On the 9th of August 1851, in Victoria, there was gold found in Ballarat for the first time. People rush to Ballarat hoping to strike rich. By the end of 1852, 90,000 newcomers had come to Victoria. This helped grow the small cities of Bendigo and Ballarat.
  • Federation of Australia

    The federation of Australia was when the six separate British colonies of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia joined together to be one country. This is also when the Constitution of Australia came into force.
  • World War 1 Ended

    World War 1 started in 1914, when the Austrian government declared war on Serbia. As they accused them of assassinating their Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Austria and Hungary declared war on Serbia. Within one month the war erupted, with over 16 million people dying within the 4 years.
