    Napoleon was born in 1769. At the age of nine, he was sent to military school until he was sixteen. When he graduated, he became lieutenant of the artillery. He then joined the French army when the revolution started.

    It was a new set of laws that was supposed to give all French people the same rights but it ended up taking away a lot of individual rights. This code brought back slavery and limited freedom of speech.

    This was another Napoleonic War that was fought. This time it was fought against a British fleet. Unfortunately, this battle went in the favor of the British and this was the first loss for Napoleon.

    This system was a blockade that Napoleon ordered on the British. He was trying to stop all trade to and from the British and other nations in Europe. This failed because the British put their own blockade around France and their navy was much stronger. Also some Europeans brought in British goods secretly.

    The French invaded Russia with about 400,000 soldiers. The Russians retreated and used the scored-earth policy to starve the French army. Stranded in the heart of Russia and with winter coming, Napoleon decided to retreat. Before they left Russia they were attacked by Russians and the early snow also took out many of his soldiers. Napoleon went back to France with only 10,000 soldiers in fighting condition.

    After the defeat at Russia, Prussia, Britian, Russia, Sweden, and Austria all saw that Napoleon had become weak and they all combined their forces, attacked and defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Leipzig.

    Elba is an island in Italy and the first location that Napoleon was exiled to. Napoleon did end up escaping and saving his people from their new ruler.

    After Napoleon's final defeat, he surrendered himself and was sent to St. Helena. He was sent 1,000 miles away from anything to prevent another escape. This also ended up being the last place he goes to before his death.
