Napoleon was made consul for life, and then 2 years later crowned himself Emperor.

In my opinion he destroyed the gains and goals of the Revolution. I think that he destroyed them by causing the war, and causing newer things to happen in France that didn't really need to happen. I think that it caused more problems, that were not things that really needed to happen.
