The Blade Itself - Joe Abercrombie
I began this series with some reservations, but was pleasantly surprised by the intensity and seriousness of the writing. It read more like a war journal than traditional high fantasy. -

Before They Are Hanged - Joe Abercrombie
A strong sequel which carries the themes well; slower in some sections than the first book. -
Period: to
Where the Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens
A sombre and yet beautiful novel, it details the struggle of a young girl raising herself in the swamps along the North Carolina coast. -
Period: to
The Last Argument of Kings - Joe Abercrombie
A strange conclusion in many ways to the trilogy, but to be expected with the wild ride it was. -
Period: to
Mona Lisa Overdrive - William Gibson
The third in the Urban Sprawl series, this short but brisk book was my favorite to date. Despite being written in 1988, the technology/futurism didn't feel dated. -

Period: to
On the Road - Jack Kerouac
A re-read of the beat classic, just as breakneck and invigorating as the first go through. -
Period: to
House of Earth and Blood - Sarah J. Maas
A lighter read, urban fantasy with a YA feel but adult themes. Not recommended except to fans of the genre -
Period: to
Ready Player Two - Earnest Cline
A rushed sequel that somehow made the original worse. I dearly hope they do not make this one into another bad movie. -
Period: to
Bright Dead Things - Ada Limon
A truly beautiful poetry book, the poignancy of descriptions of both Kentucky and California are breathtaking. -
