U.S. invades Iraq
As I was being introduced to this life the United States had conflict with the Middle East. At the time President Bush had ordered a surprise attack on Saddam Hussein to kill him and his top aides. -
Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was a devastating natural disaster that left many Americans without a house. The storm lasted 2 days and obliterated the Gulf Coast of the United States. This event caused people in New Orleans to evacuate because the destruction was so terrible. The effects of the storm cost hundreds of billions of dollars to repair. -
Iphone
In 2007 the technological advancement which was the iPhone released. The iPhone changed the way we communicate with each other and basically gave people a computer blended with a cellular device in their pocket. With this, it changed the simple way of life an has grown to be one of the most used items in today's life. -
The End of Osama
On May 2nd, 2011 an elite American unit attacked the compound where Osama Bin Laden was hiding. In this attack, American forces were able to locate and eliminate terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden. In my experience, this was one of the greatest days in American history that I have been able to witness. -
Boston Marathon
During the Boston Marathon on April 15th, 2013 two bombs went off near the finish line. These bombs were homemade and within seconds the bombs went off injuring 264 people and killing 3. The Boston Marathon is a day that is stamped in American history because it showed that after 9/11 these terrorist attacks can still happen and it was truly devastating. -
Sandy Hook
Sandy Hook was a miserable day for Americans across the country. On this day one of the deadliest mass shootings where a 20-year-old gunman killed 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. Of the 26 killed, 12 were children between six and seven years old. This changed the demographic of the country and sparked the conversation on the safety of our youth and how it needs to be handled. -
Same Sex marriage
In a Supreme Court case, they ruled that all states had to recognize same-sex marriage. This decision was major for the community because they faced many hardships throughout the time when it was a fraud for same-sex marriage. This was a major and remarkable social revolution because in many other countries even to this day same sex is not allowed. -
Donald Trump
In 2016 the presidential election was very different than any other. Donald Trump ran against Hillary Clinton and it created a major divide in the country as people became very opinionated about politics. Donald Trump won the election and was sworn in on January 19th, 2016. Now Donald Trump plans to run for the position once again in the upcoming 2024 Election. -
Donald Trump and Putin meeting
President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin meet in Finland on July 16 2018 for a summit meeting. This was another feared man by the world and Trump met with him to reject the assumptions made about Russia interfering with the 2016 Presidential election. The first part of their meeting was completely confidential but it was a massive day in recent history because Putin does not just meet with anybody. -
COVID-19
In 2020 the world changed. An outbreak of a virus named COVID broke out across the world. This virus changed the way Americans can go about their daily life, it also sparked the realization of how fast an air-born virus can spread. People went into quarantine and public places were shut down for a very long time; schools also went through a tough time and matter of fact any highly populated area struggled. It was a very miserable time -
North Korea Summit
On this day Donald Trump met with one of the most dangerous men known Kim Jong-un. The meeting had the purpose of reaching an agreement that would denuclearize North Korea. This was a massive day because it made Americans feel safe from being nuked by North Korea which was a reasonable and achievable thought. Until this Kim Jong un was feared upon because of how irrational he is. -
Joe Biden Becomes President
In the 2020 election, Donald Trump ran against Joe Biden in another rare election. Biden had won the election and was sworn in as the new President of the United States. This is our current President and where we are at now as a country is undecided. The election once again led to division in the country stemming from politics.
