My Timeline

  • "Practice Makes Perfect"

At the age of nine, I had reading assignments that were due each week. I had the biggest issue with reading. I could read, I just didn't like it. The encouragement and support my mother and teacher provided me, allowed me to practice my reading and become more comfortable and confident with it. In Erikson's stage four, Industry vs. Inferiority, this stage gives us the base of emotional support and achievement, as well as self-confidence.
  • Chose College

At age 17 I decided what I wanted to do after high school and I chose college. I went to a community college to save money for a university and it worked out very well. I also decided that I wanted to stay with my boyfriend after graduation.
In Erikson's fifth stage, Identity vs. Role Confusion, you chose what you want to do, and who you want to be. You experiment with lifestyles and sometimes includes sexual discovery.
  • Marriage

I (age 19) married my husband as we could not live without one another. He was stationed in Alaska. We want to share our lives together and make each other better as motivate one another. Erikson’s sixth stage, intimacy versus isolation, the crisis is between becoming emotionally connected to one another, having a close and loving relationship (intimacy), or being alone, keeping one's distance from others (isolation).
