My Reading History Timeline

  • 1st Grade

    1st Grade
I was in first grade in the 2004-2005 school year. My teacher always read Junie B. Jones for about half an hour every day. We even went to see a Junie B. Jones play at Ham Hall UNLV.
  • The Three Little Pigs

    The Three Little Pigs
My third-grade teacher had us read different versions of the three little pigs. We also read the story in different ways. We read by popcorn reading, reading the play version, explaining what was happening by looking at pictures, etc. It was a very memorable assignment.
  • Geronimo Stilton

    Geronimo Stilton
I began reading Geronimo Stilton in either the third grade or fourth grade. He would always go on unexpected adventures. The text had a lot of colors and fonts that matched the definition or tone of the sentence. It made reading a lot of fun.
  • The Black Stallion

    The Black Stallion
My fourth-grade teacher read The Black Stallion to us. During the time we read we read about horses, made a prediction in a journal, and even went to rodeo at South Point casino when we finished the novel.
  • The Search for David's Heart

    The Search for David's Heart
This novel was one of the first novels that I had an emotional connection with.
  • Alexander Library

    Alexander Library
I didn't have access to a computer or internet at home. My mom enrolled my siblings and I at the Alexander Library when it opened. We went every Saturday for almost four years. We check out books and DVDs.
  • Hunger Games

    Hunger Games
The trilogy is still one of my favorite books. It sparked my interest in dystopian novels.
  • Journal

    Journal
After I graduated high school I kept a journal of the books I read. I would write what I like about the book or memorable quotes that I thought were well written. I kept this up for a few months but stopped once I got a job.
  • Fools Crow

    Fools Crow
This is another novel that broke my heart. Everything about this novel was amazing. I enjoyed reading this and I began reading other works from other Native American writers such as Louise Erdrich.
  • Like Water for Chocolate

    Like Water for Chocolate
I was learning about the Mexican Revolution and came across his novel. The style of writing was different and was a typical novela, which I enjoyed.
  • Currently Reading: The Diary of a Young Girl

Currently Reading: The Diary of a Young Girl
I read this book when I was around twelve years old and again when I was around eighteen. I don't read as much as I used so I decided to reread some of the books I have read before. I started rereading it last month and it feels like I am reading it for the first time because I couldn't remember some of the details. This assignment reminded me that I should keep a journal again to stay on track of my reading.
