When I was about 3 or 4 years old my mother would read short stories to my sister and I almost everyday.
-
In Kindergarten and first grade we would go to the book fair and they would let us pick out a book for free.
-
In second grade we had a reading race track that would track our at home reading. I do not really remember how it works because I did not do much reading at home.
-
Towards the end of second grade we had a chance to read with fifth grade students. I would always read the same book with my partner and my teacher was always OK with it.
-
In third grade my school saw that my reading level was below average, so they had me in a special reading group.
-
In the fourth grade my reading level still was not at an average level so my grandpa and I would sit down everyday before football practice and read for at least 30 minutes. This is where I really started to improve with my reading.
-
We skip all the way to the seventh grade and this is where I was being graded on what and which I was reading.
-
During this time I found out that I really enjoyed reading books about history.
-
In high school this is where I actually read my first text book and had to take notes.
-
Also during high school i was reading much more and was learning new words all the time. Some of the words I did not understand the context that they were being used so I had to use a dictionary or ask my parents what certain words mean.

That brings me to today, I still read but I mostly listen to audio books.
