    reading with mom
As far back as I can remember reading has been an important part of my life. I remember being very young and having my mom read to me before bed or during the day. When my sister was born, she read to both of us and it became a thing we girls did together.

    little house on the prairie
I am not sure how it first happened or when I first stumbled upon a little house on the prairie book, but as soon as I started one, I could not put it down. I read every single book in the series, including the series about Laura's great grandmother, grandmother, mother and daughter. I loved the life and time of Laura Ingalls and I so dreadfully wanted to live in the times she did, when life was simpler and less stressful. This began my love for historical ficiton books!

    bed time readings
When I got to upper elementary school my dad started to read "The Chronicles of Narnia" books to me and my sister and my brother. We would all gather around him at night as he read and we would listen intently to the stories that happened to the characters in the book series.

    school days
Very early in life I knew I wanted to be a teacher, and so, learning from my parents to read to others, I took that to my own "classroom". My mom had built me a small classroom in our basement with desks and a chalkboard and a whiteboard and I was free to teach and read aloud to my hearts content. I read aloud to my "students" for many years (even when I had imaginary ones) and later in life I used my schoolroom to do homework and sstudy with friends.

Somewhere along the way I became obsesed with horses and I wanted one so badly that I read books about girls and their horses. I read "The Saddle Club" series, the "Thoroughbred" series and any other book that had a horse on it. This lasted through most of sixth and seventh grade.

I remember very specifically reading "Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry" and being quite fascinated with the story and characters. I think I read it three times and then I discovered there was a sequel to the book which thrilled me!

    reading today
Reading continues to be an importantt part of my life. Though most of my time is filled with reading articles and books for school I do find some time for leisure reading. I recently finished "The Book Thief" and I LOVED it! the historical fiction with the narrator as death was so intriguing to me, I could hardly put it down!
