Introduction to Reading
Before I started school I listened to my family read bible stories. -
Kindergarten
Learned short vowels a & e, beginning and ending consonant sounds. Learned how to read words, and short sentences. -
Struggling Reader
Until 3rd grade I struggled in reading. I lacked comprehension and fluency. -
Jr. High
I had a rough experience in middle school. I fell behind on my studies and lost all interest in reading and my school work. -
High School Drop Out
In 9th grade my father committed suicide. By 10th grade I had completely dropped out of high school. I could read well, but lacked all interest in studying or reading for pleasure. -
Try Again
I had my first child at 17. After she was born I wanted to better myself, so I decided to enroll in a continuation school. I was 18 and was out of school for almost 4 years. I didn't understand any of the assignments and was unable to retain information I read in text. I had absolutely no confidence and dropped out. -
Work Field
I learned how to read contracts and plans for a constructions company. I gained confidence and took my GED. I successfully passed and jumped into college. -
It's been a long road.
I now have been in college off and on since 2009. I now have the resources and comprehensions skills I lacked. -
Continuing Education
I want to continue my education. I have plans to move forward with a Master's Degree. I would like to do reading intervention and have a tutoring program for students that struggle with reading. -

I'm excited about reading, and learning all I can to continue to be the next Mrs. Kendall. I will strive to stay up to date on any programs or classes being offered so that I can better my teaching skills.
