My Reading Growth in 7th Grade

  • Summer Reading- Slob

    Summer Reading- Slob
I would rate this novel 5 out of 5 because the plot was very long and suspenseful. I remember when Owen was trying to create a time machine and It was very suspenseful reading and not knowing if it would work or not.
  • 1st Workshop Novel- Goosebumps My Hairiest Adventure

1st Workshop Novel- Goosebumps My Hairiest Adventure
I would give this novel 3 out of 5 because there really wasn't a plot and it was very short. Like when he started growing hair on his hands it was only like one paragraph. And the rest was him trying to find why he was growing the hair.
  • The Outsiders

    The Outsiders
I would rate this novel a 4 1/2 out of 5 because it was a very good book with lots of suspense and action. But, some chapters it got very boring with really nothing going on.
  • 2nd Workshop Novel- The Invention of Hugo Cabret

2nd Workshop Novel- The Invention of Hugo Cabret
I would give this novel a 5/5 because there was a good plot and a good story behind it. There was one part where he is in the cage and he escapes just a second before the guard went to grab him.
  • Lit Circle Novel- The Book Theif

Lit Circle Novel- The Book Theif
I would rat this novel a 4 out of 5 because it was very interesting but there were some points where it got very boring and nothing was really going on.I remember when Death talked about taking the lives while they were sleeping so they didn't feel it.
  • The Giver

    The Giver
This book was very interesting. I would rate it a 5 out of 5 because it was very suspenseful, especially towards the end. Like when they were getting hungry and cold, you didn't know if they would survive.
  • A Mango-Shaped Space

    A Mango-Shaped Space
I would rate this novel a 5 out of 5 because it was the best book I have ever read. It was very funny but touching at the same time. I remember when she found "the moon" and that was funny. It was sad when Mango the cat died.
  • Self-Assesment

    Self-Assesment
I have grown as a reader by reading a lot bigger books like The Invention of Hugo Cabret. I have grown as a thinker by understanding words that I didn't know before like dwelling from The Giver. Next year I want to read even bigger books and more complicated books. I also want to be a better writer and I want to be able to write essays better than I do now because right now I am not that good at writing them. I really hope I can achieve my goals as a reader, thinker, and writer next year in 8th.
