My Media Exposure Timeline

A book containing a collection of stories, usually for children. Personal insight : My mom always love to read little books about fairytales, bible stories and some sci-fi stories. She loves reading bedtime stories to me and my brother.

Pencil and papers are instruments which are often used to write, record, and journalize data to be stored and be able to recover all the information written for the future uses. Personal insight: My mom introduces these media for me to learn how to read and write. The first thing she taught me is on how to write the alphabets.

Playstation is a video game console developed by Sony. The first Playstation was released in 1994, followed by Playstation 2 (PS2) in 2000 and Playstation 3 (PS3) in 2006. The initial version of the console represented a significant improvement in terms of graphic quality over the existing cartridge players. Personal insight : At the age of three even though I still don't know how to play it yet my dad already introduced this media to me. I watch him play these games.

A newspaper is a periodical publication containing written information about current events. Newspapers can cover wide variety of fields such as politics, business, sport and art and often include materials such as opinion columns, weather forecasts, reviews of local services, obituaries, birth notices, crosswords, editorial cartoons, and comic strips. Personal insight: My grandpa loves reading these media and he sometimes even read the contents aloud for me to hear it.

The "paper communication" dated way back the 20th century however some people still practice it in the early 21st due to its somewhat anticipating and sincere process. Personal insight : My mom uses these mediato gather information especially during her studies. My grandmom usually send letters to know how's my mom's school life out there and my grandma usually bring me with her to send the letters.

The printing press is a mechanical device for printing many copies of a text on rectangular sheets of paper. Personal Insight: Highly reliable when talking about international, national, local, political, and even sports events. Still practiced in the modern days. My mom introduced this medium to m when's I was at the age of curiousity and asked her where do these newspaper came from.

Radio is the technology of using radio waves to carry information, such as sound, by systematically modulating properties of electromagnetic energy waves transmitted through space, such as their amplitude, frequency, phase, or pulse width. Personal insight: My grandpa usually uses this media and sometimes bring me with him to listen for news music and other updates .

A book is a series of pages assembled for easy portability and reading, as well as the composition contained in it. The most common modern form of book is a codex volume consisting of rectangular paper pages bound on one side, with a heavier cover and spine, so that it can fan open for reading. Personal insight: Because I already know how to read, my mom trained me to read educational books an di other kind of books to gain knowledge and other informations.

A television (tv) is an electronic device set for the transmission of programming, in the form of still or moving images, via radio waves, cable wires, satellite, or wireless network to a receiver or other screen.
Personal Insight: With the creation of television comes the uprising of the showbiz industry. Me and my family uses television as one of our source of information and entertainment. We usually watch movies in the television and sometimes uses it as our karaoke.

The Compact Cassette or Musicassette, also commonly called cassette tape, or simply tape or cassette, is an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback. It was released by Philips in 1962, having been developed in Hasselt, Belgium. Compact cassettes come in two forms, either already containing content as a pre-recorded cassette, or as a fully recordable "blank" cassette.
Personal insight : My dad usually uses our Cassette to play music.

A DVD player is a device that plays DVD discs produced under both the DVD-Video and DVD-Audio technical standards, two different and incompatible standards. Some DVD players will also play audio CDs. DVD players are connected to a television to watch the DVD content, which could be a movie, a recorded TV show, or other content.
Personal insight : My family usually uses this media for us to watch movie, sing karaoke songs and play some videos specially in our family quality time

A camera is an optical instrument for recording or capturing images, which may be stored locally, transmitted to another location.
The revolution of cameras was initiated by the widely-known Kodak.
The introduction of camera to the world simulates the "colorful" forms of media and was then improved later on.
Personal insight:My mom bought our very first digital camera when I was 9 for us to capture every moment we have and to keep the memories we shared by taking pictures and videos.

The Sony PSP, which is short for PlayStation Portable, was a handheld game and multimedia entertainment console. The PSP also featured a port for Sony's Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro Duo media, allowing it to play audio, video and still image content from these as well.
Personal insight: I was exposed to this media because my dad bought this portable PlayStation for my brother and together we play and enjoy the games in it.

Typewriter is a machine for writing in characters similar to those produced by printer's type by means of keyboard-operated types striking a ribbon to transfer ink or carbon impressions onto the paper.
Personal insigh: This media was introduced to me by our neighbor because she is our barangay secretary and because of lack of budget they uses typewriter to print documents and record data .

The Personal Computer (PC) is a multi-purpose electronic computer whose size, capabilities, and price make it feasible for individual use.
Personal Insight:My mom bought our very first personal computer for us to be exposed on this kind of media . We play games, view pictures, edit some documents and print information . This is the very first instrument to access the online world and that we considered this as a "perfect" media since it can store, transfer, and broadcast information.

Microsoft Paint or 'MS Paint' is a basic graphics/painting utility that is included in all the Microsoft Windows versions.
Personal insight: I love to draw that's why I use this Microsoft paint to paint because it has also complete features such as pencil, brush and airbrush tool. It also has the ability to add text, lines and shapes. Also included are an eraser, magnifier, and fill colour tool.

A device before the invention of Smartphones. It is a portable telephone that receives messages and calls with the use of cellular towers. Only used in messaging and calling due to the lack of features.
Personal insight: Mom bought her first mobile phone and introduce it to me . She uses it to to keep in contact with us an di on her work as one of the medium for communication.

The definition of a telephone is a system used to send speech or data over distances using a device called a telephone that functions as the transmitter and receiver.
It was evident that the "paper communication" was gradually dying at the start of telephone media due to its ability to serve instant communication in voice form.
Personal insight : I only got to see and use a telephone when we went to Cebu City for a short period of time and realized the telephones works.

Flat screen tv is a type of thin, lightweight video display that uses liquid crystals or electroluminescence to reflect images. This tv is a modernized mass medium for entertainment, education, news, politics, gossip and advertising.
Personal insight: My dad decided to buy the latest model of television which is the flatscreen LCD for us to be more entertained while we watch movies, news and sing karaoke songs.

MP3 (formally MPEG-1 Audio Layer III) is an audio coding format for digital audio. Originally defined as the third audio format of the MPEG-1 standard, it was retained and further extended—defining additional bit rates and support for more audio channels—as the third audio format of the subsequent MPEG-2 standard. MP3 as a file format commonly designates files containing an elementary stream of MPEG-1 audio and video encoded data.
Personal insight: My mom bought me MP3 to used as media player.

An LCD projector is a type of video projector for displaying video, images or computer data on a screen or other flat surface.As polarized light passes through the panels, individual pixels can be opened to allow light to pass or closed to block the light. The combination of open and closed pixels can produce a wide range of colors and shades in the projected image.
Personal insight : My very first exposure of this media is when I was in Grade 7 when our teacher uses this set on her discussions.

Suite of products developed by Microsoft Corporation that includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Each program serves a different purpose and is compatible with other programs included in the package.
Personal insight: These are one way to store information especially during my studies and I am one of the big fan of these softwares. These help me record save and restore data when I ever I have to put something on this software.

The first internet browser of the world. An application which is pre-installed in windows OS. It is the first internet browser to be used in searching the vast internet. Also has slow response time, not a decent browser at that time.
Personal insight : Just like the Mozilla Firefox, I uses this browser to surf in the Internet for my studies and to keep updated on the outside world.

Also called portable computers. It has the same purpose like the Desktop computer but it was made more portable and efficient. Very useful, especially when you're conducting a research on a remote area where you can type in your data in a laptop.
Personal insight: When I was exposed to the LCD projector set, my mom decided to buy a laptop for me to help on my studies specially that I was enrolled on the special section. It helps me a lot since it can store information and is portable.

Mozilla Firefox (or simply Firefox) is a free and open-source web browser developed by Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary, Mozilla Corporation. Firefox is available for Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems. Its sibling, Firefox for Android, is available for Android.
Personal insight: I was able to learn about this browser because in 6th grade most of the assignments are through surfing and that I have to surf in the internet about our lessons.

Portable DVD players were created in order to aid the ability to watch DVDs away from home. They are practical for on the go use, and many perform secondary functions such as playing music from audio CDs and displaying images from digital cameras or camcorders.
Personal insight: I was first introduced to this media when I was in the 8th grade. My classmate brought her portable DVD in our room and we usually watch movies and the very first movie that we watched was "The Grudge" and it was fun .

Search the world's information, including webpages, images, videos and more. Google has many special features to help you find exactly what you're looking for.
Personal insight: just like the Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google gives you almost all that you need while serving in the Internet however I was introduced to this media last 2014 because the most familiar to me is Internet explorer but now I am already using Google and I am comfortable using this application .

First video streaming site in the internet. Used for watching videos which can be a source of information. It is also an alternative for the television but it requires the use of internet.YouTube is a free video-hosting website that allows members to store and serve video content.
Personal insight: Since my mom already upgraded my allowance I was able to buy load to register it and watch videos on YouTube and then download it. Most of my downloaded videos before are 1D music videos .

The number one social networking site made by Mark Zuckerberg which features sharing of photos and videos of your everyday status. Sometimes reliable and sometimes not since some people share fake information.
Personal insight : I was first exposed to this media when I was in grade 9 because my classmates uses this application to meet new friends to communicate with them watch videos post pictures and etc. However I made my first account is when I was already in the 10th grade.

Other Social Media Apps (Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Line, Skype, Viber etc.)

Been exposed to this apps just this year though twitter and instagram were already launched last 2010. These were used for posting statuses called "tweets" and posting pictures. This is also a way of breaking the barrier of the superstars and fans. These makes them more closer. On the other hand, messenger was launched last 2011 but became more popular this year 2017.
Personal insight: When I was exposed to social media I also use these apps for communication by means of chatting.

Spotify is a new way to enjoy music. Simply download and install, before you know it you'll be singing along to the genre, artist or song of your choice. Whenever I have free time I always open this app and play the music I saved on my playlists.
Personal insight : I was exposed to this media when I was already in grade 11 in the year 2017 when my mom was able to bought an Internet plan for me that's why I was able to stream in the Internet.

iCloud is a cloud storage and cloud computing service from Apple Inc. The service provides its users with means to store data such as documents, photos, and music on remote servers for download to iOS, macOS or Windows devices, to share and send data to other users, and to manage their Apple devices if lost or stolen.
Personal insight: I was able to familiarize this online storage because my mom decided to buy an Internet and mobile phone plan she decided to choose iPhone 5s .

A hard drive that is outside of the computer case in its own enclosure. Most external hard drives support the IDE interface and are slightly bigger than a hard drive itself.
Personal insight : I was able to be exposed in this media because my mom bought an external hard drive in the city and I decided to store all my documents and other information through this because one of our laptop was formatted.
