My name is Alecia Parker. I grew up in Ireland with 3 older brothers and 2 older sisters. I am the youngest out of all of them. My parents John and Ruth came to America to have a better life. They told me before they left, to come to America when i am 16 and to bring my brothers and sisters. -
Arrive at Ellis Island

I arrive at Ellis Island in the morning. It looks like a nice place. I dont know what is going to happen. The line is really short. It took really quick to get through the first part. -
Ellis Island
I am being checked on right now. I dont see any of my brothers or sisters anywhere. I hope that I dont get lost. When I was done getting checked on, I went outside and sat on a rock waiting for my family. A few minutes later, I see my parents and my brothers and sisters. Now I am happy that we are all together. -
Moving In
After looking for houses to rent, we finally found a house. It is really small but thats the best it is going to get. We only brought enough money to rent a house and little food. We hope as time goes on, it will get better. -
Gold Rush
Gold Rush
We couldn't help but to over hear that someone in California found gold. Our family is in deep need of money so we packed our bags. It is going to be a long walk but it will be worth it. Along the way, one of my brothers gets ill. It doesn't look to bad but you never know. I dont know if we will make it, but I hope so. -
New Home
My family has decided to stay in California. They didn't want risk anything on the way back home. We got a lot of gold. We got a bigger house and we are living a great life. Just liked we planned.
