I was born in Lynwood, California. I consider myself to be a simultaneous bilingual because I was born into an environment where both English and Spanish were spoken, so therefore, I was exposed to both languages and began to speak both languages simultaneously. -

Day Care
I was placed in Day Care in Lynwood, California at the age of 1. Only English was spoken at Day Care, but English and Spanish were both spoken at home. -
Pre Pre-School
I began Pre Pre-School in California at the age of three. The primary language was English. Although English and Spanish continued to be spoken at home. -
Pre-School
I began Pre-School in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico at the age of four. The primary language was Spanish at school. At home, English and Spanish continued to be spoken. -
Learned how to read and write in Spanish
At the age of four I learned how to read and write simple words in Spanish. My Pre-School learning was in Spanish. At home, Spanish and English were spoken. -
Kindergarten
I went to Kindergarten in Puerto Rico. My schooling in Kindergarten was in Spanish. I continued to read and write simple words in Spanish. At home, English and Spanish were spoken. My mom being a teacher, began teaching me to read and write in English as well. -

First Grade - Twelfth Grade
I began First Grade in a school in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico called Ramey School. Except for my Spanish Class, all of my classes were in English. Socially, I also expressed myself in English and in Spanish in school. I skipped tenth grade, therefore completing my studies a year early. At home, English and Spanish continued to be used. -
BA - Elementary Education with a Certification in Elementary English Education
I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a Certification in Elementary English Education. I learned about language acquisition and strategies for teaching English. This also helped me expand my knowledge. Socially, I spoke both Spanish and English, depending on the group of people. -

My Teaching Experience
I began teaching English in 2004. I teach English to ESL students. I use English all day long when I am teaching. Socially, I continue to use English and Spanish. -
MA - Teaching English as a Second Language
I completed my Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. I learned so much more on language acquisition and so much more on techniques and strategies to teach English. Socially, I interacted in English most of the time with my classmates, and used Spanish for other contexts. -
My daughter
My daughter was born. I talk to her in both English and Spanish, although her dominant language is Spanish. -
Bilingual Certification
I began a bilingual certification. I use English and Spanish socially. I mainly use English to communicate with my classmates.
