My History of Reading and Writing

  • Kindergarden

The was the first year I had ever learned how to write and read. I was this year that allowed me to be able to read throughout all of my life. Without this year of my life I would most likely be illiterate.

My history of reading and writing

  • The 1st Grade

The first grade is when I started to learn to connect words and learning words in general. Our teacher at the time would also read us books that were very enjoyable during that time. During then I used to read a lot of picture books because other books were too wordy for me.
  • The 2nd Grade

The 2nd grade is the time I had started learning digraphs such as ch, and sh words. Our teacher would show us words that have digraphs and teach us what they meant and how to pronounce them. This would make me able to read words in chapter books a bit better but I still hadn't known what a lot of the words meant.
  • The 3rd grade

3rd grade is the year we had started to use wordly wise which was quite difficult to memorize but would ultimately teach me words that would help me when reading chapter books. The words weren't very big words they were words that were quite simple.
  • The 4th grade

The fourth grade is when reading and writing got more interesting. The wordly wise words became more difficult and we were writing quite often during classes. We would also read a book as a class and the teacher would choose one of us to read a passage or paragraph.
  • The 5th grade

The 5th grade was also a difficult year for reading and writing because we had a lot of wordly wise's to memorize for quizzes and there were a lot of words and I would usually do pretty bad. The books also became easier to read because I had learned a lot of words from the wordly wise that would stick with me.
  • The 6th grade

The 6th grade was very lax in terms of reading and writing mainly because my teacher wouldnt assign a lot of wordly wise, since she was a lot more math and science focused. We would still read books as a class that were pretty difficult but the year was an easy one.
  • The 7th grade (Middle school)

The 7th grade was probably the most difficult for a lot of students mainly because we had a lot of responsibility and there were far more classes we had. Reading and writing during this time was intense and the words and books were increasingly more difficult to grasp. We wouldnt read a lot of books as a class but the teacher would assign us books to read at home.
  • The 8th Grade (Middle school)

The 8th grade was a bit of a breeze compared to 7th grade because we had understood the responsibility we had and we had got used to it. The books we were assigned were pretty easy and I got through them pretty easily. We also had lots of quizzes for reading and writing. My writing during this time was getting increasingly better mainly because I had learned to incorporate bigger words into my writing.
  • Freshmen Year

Freshmen year was like a reboot of 8th grade in terms of reading and writing because I hadn't taken an honors class for English because I was new to high school and didn't know a lot of things about changing classes. The reading was fairly simple and we didnt get assigned books for home. I suppose this year was easy because this is when covid had started and schools didnt know what to do in terms of in class or online work. The school wasnt giving us books to bring home because of covid measures
  • Sophomore Year

Sophomore year was by far the most difficult year I had ever taken in my life. I was taking a lot of honors classes during the time because I had wanted to increase my GPA. I wasn't very prepared for this year but I had got used to it after a couple months. I was assigned many essays at a time and a lot of pop quizzes and unit tests. This year had shown my true potential in terms of pushing myself. I learned that I had to prepare in advance to many of my essays and couldnt procrastinate at all.
