My History As a Reader

  • Clifford the Big Red Dog

    Clifford the Big Red Dog
This book was the first book that I can remember I got read to by one of my favorite teachers in elementary school Mrs. Bell, when she read to me all I could think about was being able to be in the book.
  • Little Critter

    Little Critter
When I was in Elementary School, I was read to by my speech teacher Mrs. Bell she was bilingual she would always choose books that had both English and Spanish which I took to heart that someone would do that for me because my main language was Spanish, no one in my household could speak English so I had a hard time being able to read, speak, and write in English. If the book didn't have Spanish and English she would translate it in her own words in Spanish so I could understand what it meant.
  • The Frog and The Toad Together

The Frog and The Toad Together
This book wasn't my biggest fan. If I could be honest, I was young and this book whenever I would see it I knew I was going to get bored. The reason I didn't enjoy it is because I don't like frogs even as a cartoon I would prefer to pass off. Another reason this book wasn't my biggest fan was because of the cover. There isn't much color to it or any fun, and me as a kid I would love any book that would say "Bring me joy." Or anything that brought my attention.
  • Sailing Home: A Story of a Childhood at Sea

Sailing Home: A Story of a Childhood at Sea
Around 4th grade or 5th grade we used a big book that had many little stories in it. While reading the small stories there was one stories that had to do with traveling and little by little, I discovered that I would like to travel when I was older and that is something that has stuck with me since then.

It made me become the person I am now.
  • Charlotte's Web

    Charlotte's Web
Book I dislike when I was in elementary school was Charlotte's Web. It didn't really mind me of happy events. I love books that make me laugh and smile and make me have an imagination that would make me want to be in the book and this book just got me sad because of the ending.
  • The Magic Tree House

    The Magic Tree House
Magic Tree House is a book that is similar to my brothers and I childhood. Where we used to live, we would always go out with our group of friends and we would play pirates, polices, anything that our imagination brought to us. So, whenever I would see this book, it reminds me of my brother and I and it's a memory I will hold onto. Sometimes I would check out some of these books and my brother and I would take turns reading them.
  • Junie B Jones

  • Amelia Earhart

    Amelia Earhart
I was in 5th grade I believe so when this article showed up on one of the books, we read throughout the year that had many stories in it. While reading this article I was amazed, and I remember got so invested with question that my teacher couldn't answer and that is where I discovered I wanted to discover things in the world. At least I thought that would be my career when growing up.
  • My Weird School

    My Weird School
Another one of my favorite books would be My Weird School, this book reminded me of my friends we were all so crazy and happy to go to school because we would wonder what kind of adventures, we would come across!
  • Because Of Winn-Dixie

    Because Of Winn-Dixie
When I started reading this book it reminded me of my dogs I had back in Mexico, I was still a baby, but I could remember some of the dogs that were always around and that's where I realized I love dogs and they aren't just animals, but part of the family and they have feelings too and we need to appreciate what they do for us as well.
  • Miss Daisy Is Crazy!

    Miss Daisy Is Crazy!
If I am correct this book was actually one of my favorites. I did my first "essay" over it in 6th or 7th grade. I always loved to read when I younger and I choose this book because I thought the main character me and the group of friends reminded me of mi group of friends.
  • 8th grade Science

    8th grade Science
I had move schools around my 8th grade year and this teacher made us read a book about earthquakes and how they start. I used to not like any of these books because it was about disaster but with time, I realized I rather know how something like gets created and what we need to do and know then to be scared and get lost with what I should do since I wasn't prepared.
  • 8th Grade Social Studies

    8th Grade Social Studies
I loved social studies and still do. Sometimes when we did group activities, and I would finish early I would always go through and see what events happened in the past that has brought us to the world we live in now.
  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid

    Diary of a Wimpy Kid
My brother was so obsessed with these books whenever they had a book fair in the school, he would always buy more versions of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I would read a chapter to him whenever he would come back from the book fair, and he would be so excited during me reading.
  • The Fault In Our Stars

    The Fault In Our Stars
I never knew what this book was about until my freshman year in High School. I knew I always seen this book around and it was famous, but never did I check it out. Until my English teacher said we would watch the movie after reading the book. I automatically fell in love with books like this romance, drama.
  • I'm Not Your Original Mexican Daughter

I'm Not Your Original Mexican Daughter
This book reminds me of me, and I think I can speak for most Mexican daughters. This book is about this Mexican family and Julia was a daughter/sister, her parents wanted her to be exactly like her big sister and put so much pressure on her to do things right and to be the perfect daughter every family dream of. This book is like my life. I am the oldest and first in my family to go to college and be born in America. So, my parents always did put pressure to succeed in life.
  • Snow Falling

    Snow Falling
This book I loved it. It's based on a Netflix series. I always wanted to read it but I never knew it was actually out in real-life until I saw it one day in the store and I started to read it and it was exactly like how the character in the movies Jane described it on the show. The book is from the 50's and full of drama.
  • Teaching

    Teaching
This is the first time that I read to a class I was subbing, and I read There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Spoon. My class loved this book and started laughing and asking questions while I was reading. I didn't mind because it was the first time, I read out loud with them and it was funny seeing their reaction to the book.
  • The Rainbow Fish

    The Rainbow Fish
I was going down to pick up my class from subbing, I went to the library which is where they were having their specials and I notice they were reading this book and once we got to the classroom I asked them what did they learn from the book they read together and I was surprised that they actually knew the summary and what to do and not do to someone who is getting bullied or left out. Always include everyone no matter anything. I think it is always good to remind the kids to always be nice.
