  • Who Was King Tut?

    My second-grade teacher read this to us. We did a whole unit on the pyramids and King Tut and Hieroglyphics. It started my love for Ancient Egypt that I still have to this day.

    These were the first real chapter books I read by myself. I loved them so much. I read them a lot that year.

    We read this book together as a class in third grade. Our teacher (who was my mom) brought in snacks related to the book and we all read it and had a fun experience.

    This is a book I read in fourth grade. I really liked it, and it is the only book I remember reading at that age that I actually liked.

    This was another class read that I enjoyed. I read it in fifth grade. I was already fascinated by Egypt, and this was a mystery book that started my love for that genre.
  • To Kill a Mockingbird

    This was one of my favorite reads of all time and still is. I read it in eighth grade. It really made a major impact on me and still does to this day. It opened my eyes to a lot of real-life experiences that I had never thought about before.
  • The President's Daughter: A novel

    This book is about Thomas Jefferson's daughter who was born a slave. She is mixed. It talks about her life and her struggles. This opened my eyes at that age to the racial prejudice that happened in this country and still continues to in different ways.
  • The Life of Pi

    This is a classic that I read sophomore year of high school. It was just a really good read.
  • The Color Purple

    I did my independent reading study project on this book my senior year. It was a good read, and I went on to watch the musical.
  • The Scarlet Letter

    I read this book junior year of high school. It brought up a lot of questions about society and the prejudices that are put on women.
  • Pride and Prejudice

    I also read this book senior year. It made me have an appreciation for the author Jane Austen.
  • The Vanishing Half

    I read this book when I was 19 and I really liked it. It was a good read and good suspense book. It also represented identity and the family dynamic.
  • Twilight

    I read the book Twilight for the first time after my mom recommended it to me. It was a fun read.
  • They Both Die at the End

    This is a book I just recently finished. It gave ma whole new outlook on the meaning life is short. It just made me appreciate life a lot more.
