My Game History Timeline

  • Backgammon

    Backgammon
Backgammon is a historical board game dating back thousands of years. As someone who has never been very good at Chess, Backgammon was a far easier alternative that my mum taught me. Unknown 2000BC, Backgammon, Board game
  • Spyro: Year of the Dragon

    Spyro: Year of the Dragon
Spyro: Year of the Dragon was a 2000 Playstation 1 game by Insomniac. It is likely one of the first videogames I have ever played. It's also the main game me and my two siblings played together when we were young. Because of the game's unique environments, music and characters it is extremely memorable and nostalgic for me. Insomniac 2000, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, video game, Playstation, Sony Computer Entertainment.
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops

    Call of Duty: Black Ops
Black Ops was the 2nd Call of Duty game in the Black Ops series (including the previous title World at War). Being the first FPS game I had ever played, I quickly fell in love with it and introduced me to one of my favourite genres of games. I have fond memories of playing this game with my friends, as well as its fantastic story mode, music, and terrifying Zombies mode. Treyarch 2010, Call of Duty: Black Ops, video game, Playstation 3, Activision.
  • DOOM (2016)

    DOOM (2016)
While I never played the original DOOM games as a kid, I watch my brother play it a lot. Seeing all the enemy types be reimagined from pixel art to modern 3D graphics was appealing. What I did not expect was how impressive the story-telling was. Despite the narrative being told in the background and kept brief, it is presented extremely efficiently in the world and dialogue. id Software 2016, DOOM, video game, Playstation 4, Bethesda Softworks.
  • Uno

    Uno
While I have always played Uno on the occasion for as long as I could remember, I only became fully invested in playing it recently. It has become a staple game in my friend group to play when feeling tired or lazy, as it is the perfect balance between player decision making and requiring little thought. It is also one of the few games where spontaneous teaming-up against one person occurs. Mattel 1971, Uno, card game.
  • Sea of Thieves

    Sea of Thieves
While I initially didn't understand the appeal of the game, I grew to absolutely adore it once I 'got it'. I love Sea of Thieves for its unique 'drop in - drop out' gameplay loop giving complete freedom and decision making each time I enter the world of the game. It's also one of the only games I've played where simply travelling is as in-depth as it is. Rare 2018, Sea of Thieves, video game, PC, Microsoft Studios
