    My birth
    I was born on Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Both of my parents are Spanish speakers.

    Close Encounter
    On Frebruary, 1975 I discovered the TV. Most of the programs that I watched were in English.
  • Friends

    Friends
    My friends used to trick or treat. They sang rhymes in English. First I learned the songs and then I became interested in Knowing the meaning of the letters.
  • School time

    I went to Ramon M. Torres school in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. It was a public school. In Kindergarten I learned my first vocabulary words. I became very interested in English.
  • Today is a sunny day...

    Today is a sunny day...
    Every day at the beggining of the English class we sang: Today is a sunny day pu, pu, the sun is shinnig, today is a sunny day. With the song I learned the days of the week and the season of the years.
  • Reading

    Reading
    On fifth grade Mrs.Toledo gave me an assigment about a story. The story was so interesting that I start reading many books, all of them in English. I learned a lot of vocabulary and improve my reading and writting skills.
  • Congratulations

    Congratulations
    On my midle scholl graduation I received the English medal. I wond it because of my ejecutory in the English class. I always did my best practicing vocabulary, reading, writing and pronunciation. At that time I understood that English was my key for success.

    I went to Washington, DC in a school trip. On that trip we share rooms with English speakers students. Also I participated in workshop all conduced in English. For first time I use English in another country and with people that are proficient in English. I felt very happy because I can comunicate in Spanish and English.

    Most of the text books that I used at the University were in English.
  • Teaching English

    Teaching English
    My first teaching experience was as bilingual math teacher. Later I started teaching special education. One of my student came from the United States and do not speaks Spanish. I start teaching her Spanish and at the same time I learned English.
  • Bilingual certification

    Bilingual certification
    I considered that a bilingual person has more opportunities to success in life. That's why I start studying to become a bilingual teacher.
