I couldn't find the actual date for this invention. It was invented by Thomas Edison in 1877. It was the first machine to record and playback sounds. Before this invention people could only hear music and sound by going to a concert or using a musical instrument. This invention helped lead to the Cassette player.

Gramophone and records

The gramophone and records were invented by Emile Berliner. The first records were originally made of glass, then zinc, then a hard rubber. He invented the gramophone to play his records. This invention was inspiration to create the Cassette player. And was inspired by the Phonograph.

Cassette

A cassette is a sealed plastic unit containing a length of audiotape, videotape, film, etc. wound on a pair of spools, for insertion into a recorder or playback device. It was among the first portable music players.

MP3 player

I couldn't find the exact date it was invented. It was invented by the company Microsoft. It was inspired by the Cassette player. Microsoft wanted to make a smaller device than the Cassette and have the music already recorded to make it more enjoyable.

Ipod shuffle

The ipod shuffle was invented by the company Apple. They wanted to make it small and simple to make listening to music easier. This was an invention inspired by the Cassette.

Ipod Touch

The ipod touch was also invented by Apple. You can listen to music on it and also download apps. You can use your finger to opperate it. This also makes music a lot easier to listen to and enjoy. This invention was inspired by the Cassette and the ipod shuffle also the MP3 player.
