A music box is a 19th/20th century automatic musical instrument that produces sounds by the use of a set of pins placed on a revolving cylinder or disc so as to pluck the tuned teethof a steel comb. The first music box factory was opened there in 1815 by Jérémie Recordon and Samuel Junod. -

A year after the creation of the cassette tape, the cassette tape player was made in 1963 by The Phillps Company. The first machine was called Norelco Carry-Corder. -
The invention of the Walkman
The prototype was built in 1978 by audio-division engineer Nobutoshi Kihara. The original Walkman was marketed in 1979 as the Walkman in Japan and, from 1980, the Soundabout in many other countries including the US, Freestyle in Sweden and the Stowaway in the UK. -
The Compact Disk
The compact disk was created, now having a circle shape. This recorded much more music with higher qualities. It was light weight, and thin making it easier to store places. Made by the compaines of Philps and Sony. -
The first CD player
Sony introduced the world's first CD player, the CDP-101 on October 1st, 1982. It hit the market with a retail price of about $900 and featured the now familiar slide out tray loading mechanism for the first time. -
The first MP3
The German company Fraunhofer-Gesellshaft developed MP3 technology. The first mp3 player was technically created in the early 1990's by Frauenhofer, although it didn't even work! The first successful one, though, was created in 1997 by Tomislav Uzelac, a developer from Advanced Multimedia Products.
