    The radio sales tripled in America mainly during the 'Roaring Twenties' compared to the previous year/decade. The radio allowed people to listen to music in their own homes. This means that they wouldn't have to leave their home to listen to a band/artist. Around the time that the radio was made there were only 4 channels.
  • RCA Tape Cartridge

    RCA Tape Cartridge
    The RCA Tape was released in 1958. The RCA was the first portable music player. The RCA used a magnetic tape format which meant that the quality would be a lot better. Due to the fact it is a magnetic tape it meant that you would not need to wind the tape back up.
  • Compact Disc

    Compact Disc
    Compact discs changed the way they were being read. They are now read by lasers. This is done by the laser bouncing off the disc which then creates a reflection which the sensor can read. This is different from how it used to be read. It used to be read mechanically. A compact disc offers a better quality of sound.
  • Sony Walkman

    The Sony Walkman was the worlds first way of being listening to music on the go. This was because the device was portable which meant you could take it anywhere. The Walkman featured two headphone jacks which meant that two people could listen to it at the same time.The Walkman used AA batteries which meant that it was easy to keep the Walkman alive as all you needed to do was the change the batteries.

    MTV is an American basic cable and satellite television channel. MTV is part of the Viacom Music and Entertainment Group. MTV headquarters are based in New York City. MTV is a music channel that allows people to watch music videos. When the channel started it just played music but now it plays music videos. MTV has a huge audience that watches and listens to it's content.

    Fansites are unofficial websites created by fans of a band or artist. They usually contain specialized information about a certain topic, in this case an artist/band. The websites often include pictures/images of the band or artist. Most of the fansites have now changed to pages on social media wesbites such as facebook.

    February 2005. In November 2006, it was bought by Google for US$1.65 billion. YouTube is one of Google's subsidiaries. YouTube allows users to upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos.

    Spotify is a music streaming site/app. Spotify is used on consoles and devices for example PlayStation, Android and IOS. Spotify is an easy way to listen to bands and artists as all you need to do is search for the band, album or song. Spotify also lets you create a playlist of your favourite songs which means it is easier to listen to them.
