    One of the first ways people could listen to music came from the invention of the Jukebox, which was released in 1927. This machine was used in pubs, nightclubs and restaurants and operated where you would put the requested amount of money in then you could choose one of the songs that was in the machine. They went on to become very popular and in the 50's they had a small one on each table and you would insert your money for it to play the song and while it would play the employees would dance

    This menat that the poeple would have a choice vinyl records that were already in the jukebox and they couldn't add or take any records out of it. When you chose the song it would play it out of the machine so you would only hear it from inside the place where it was so it wasn't portable and you couldn't have your personalised playlists in it so if you wanted to listen to that song you would have to go to the jubebox and pay to hear it.

    In 1964 the mass production of Compact Cassettes happened these small plastic things with magnetic tape recordings on them took over the world. They ment that you could get the new album of your favorite artist on this small device that you could fit in your pocket. All you need as well was a player for them, at first you have players that you would put the tape into and it would play it for you. They then moved onto being fitted in cars and combined with the car radio so you listen while you dr

    With the invention of the compact cassettes it meant that you could have more choice in what you listened to as the songs on the casstte would be a certain artist that if you brought you would obviously like and enjoy listening too. It also made it that you could listen to the music in your house as long as you had the cassette player but you still could't listen to music while walking down the street.

These devices where a revolution as you could listen to your favorite cassette while you were waking around the first portable music player, all you had to do was put your headphones in attach the Walkman to your belt and you were sorted.     With the Walkman being introduced to the market it changed the way you listened to music massivly as now you listen to music as you could listen to music wherever you go and really for the first time music became portable as you just need the casstte of the artisted you liked your walkman and you could just walk and listen to them
  • Apple Ipod

    In 2001 small names brand apple realesed the first generation iPod this device took music computation to another level as now instead of putting your dics into the machine and listening you could go onto it and the song would be saved on it without needing a dics. This meant that they could be smaller so you could carry them around easier, also that you could have lots of different songs from different artist on one machine instead of having to care all the discs around with you.

    With this going on sale it meant that you could now not have to carry your Cassettes around with you and change the casstte you wanted to listen to a different artist, but now you put the music on your itunes account on your computer sync that with the IPod and it would be on there and you could listen to it as much as you want, it also meant that you make playlists of of your favoriate songs and made the music as portable as it could be.
