    Muhammad Is Born

    Born in Mecca, a city of religious practice and pilgrimage.

    First Revelation!

    On Mount Hira, Muhammad receives his first revelation from Allah. He thought he was going mad, or that he was hallucinating or that it was a demonic apparition. But then he decided it was Allah. Learned that Allah was the only god, that he wanted all statues and images to be destroyed, and that he denounced lending money at exorbitant rates.

    Muhammad Begins

    After his vision on Mount Hira, Muhammad began to openly spread the messages that he claimed Allah had given him, establishing a following within the already religious city.

    Muhammad's Sorrows

    In this year both his wife, Khadija, and his uncle, Abu Talib, pass away. This brings much heartache to his life and inspire some of his teachings about family devotion.

    Muhammad's Ascension

    In this year Muhammad claims to have ascended to meet God and learn more of his commands for the islamic people. This is known as Isra and Mi'raj.

    Muhammad's Flight

    Muhammad flees Mecca after declaring war on local people for their actions against him. He was essentially marking an armed revolution, which made him have to flee from what is later called "persecution" instead of actual retaliation. This is thirteen years into his teaching. There was also a plot to assassinate him at this time.

    Defeat

    The muslims are defeated at the Battle of Uhud because of lack of coordination among them and no real battle plan, just a large army not really knowing what to do.

    Muhammad's Wars

    One of the largest battles Muhammad fought to spread Islam on the Arabian Peninsula was the Battle of the Trench. This was the great siege of Medina.

    Muhammad's Conquest

    In this year, Muhammad and his forces took Mecca finally and made it their religious stronghold.

    Muhammad Dies

    Muhammad died after a battle that took Mecca with little resistance. Before his death, he had converted most of the Arabian Peninsula to Islam.
