  • First eruption

    The volcano produced its first eruption in over 100 years. A 250 ft wide crater is created from steam explosions.

  • Citizens are Evacuated

    People that lived near the mountain were evacuated because of the possible dangers of an eruption.The crater grew to about 1300 ft in diameter.

  • Bursts of Ash Spotted

  • Bulge Starts to Form

  • People are Allowed Back in Homes

    Citizens can now go live in their homes again but have to sign waivers.

  • 5.1 Earthquake Happens

    This earthquake sparks the explosion.

  • Eruption Starts

    Extreme amounts of ash shoot up in the air. It is hot.

  • Lightning is Striking

    Lightning is striking on the mountain and ash is spreading.

  • Pieces of Mountain Explode

    Parts of the mountain are exploded off the mountain

  • Pyroclastic Flow

    Pyroclastic Flow is rushing down the mountain at 90 mph.

  • Eruption Ends

    Eruption ends and people are searching for dead bodies.

  • Jimmy Carter Visits the Mountain

  • Trees are planted at Mt Saint Helens

  • Survivors Reunite
