    After WWI, League of NAtions gave Britain control of Palestine. British decided to seperate parts of Palestine for Jewish and Arab settlements. During 1930s more European Jews immigrated to Palestine because of Nazi persecution.

    It stretched for 800 miles, trandsportin crude oil from the oil fields at Prudhoe Bay on Alaska's North Slope. It was built after the oil embargo of 1973 because of oil being very scarce in the U.S. due to the cutoff of this resource from the middle east.

    Signed by Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat and Israeli Prime minister Menachen Begin folllowing twelve days of secret negotiations at Camp David. The two fameworkd were signed at the whitehous, and were witnessed by U.S. president Jimmy Carter. The second of these frameworks led directly to the 1979 Egypt-Israel Peace treaty. Sudat and Begin received the shared 1978 Nobel peace prize.

    Diplomatic crisis between Iran and the U.S. 52 american dipolmats and citizens were held hostage for 444 days, after a group of Iranian students, belonging to the Muslim Student Followers of the Imam's line, who were supporting the Iranian Revolution, took over U.S. Embassy in Tehran. Jimmy Carter called the hostages "victims of terroism and anarchy."

    At the end of December 1979, the Soviet Union sent thousands of Troops into Afghanistan and immediately assumed complete military and political control of Kabul and large portions of the country. This event began a brutal, decade-long attempt by Moscow to subdue the Afghan civil war and maintain a friendly and socialist government on its border. The U.S. and its European allies stopped them.
