    Temujin (AKA Genghis Kahn) united the tribes into one big empire. This helped the mongols by giving them a bigger military. It also, helped the mongols by making it so that they don't want to kill each other. This allowed them to have a bigger army and a better military.

    Genghis Kahn Dies and His Son Ogadai Takes Power.
    When Genghis Kahn dies in 1227 his son Ogadai takes power. Ogadai conquers the rest of northern China. He also catures Russia and Persia.

    Kublai Khan, Gengahis's grandson takes power. At the time southern China was still under Song control. Kublai defeated the Song in 1279.

    Marco Polo was an Italian merchant who traveled the Silk Road with his father and uncle. He became the assisstant of Kublai Kahn. He went on government missions for Kublai Khan. When he returned to Italy he wrote a book about his travels.

    The Mongol empire fell in 1368. The empire got to big for its own good. One man could not hold it all together so eventually individual sections started falling. This caused the Mongols downfall.
