The United States and Britain withdrew from Iran. The Soviets decided to remain, while the United States assisted Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi removal of Soviet troops. -
Prime Minister Appointed
Mohammad Mosaddeq was appointed as the Prime Minister of Iran. -
Patching things up... Leader leaving?
Mosaddeq nationalized the oil industry and made the British leave. Demonstrations in the street, forced Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi to flee to Rome. -
Taking over and Coming back
Mosaddeq's government is terminated when the CIA and Britain follow through with their plan. Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi was brought back the day after he left Iran. -
White Revolution
In an effort to Westernize Iran, by land reform and fixing women's suffrage, lead to the White Revolution reforms. -
Trying the forces, and widening the gaps
In attempt of removal of all secular opposition utilizing the force of secret police, the Savak. Caused Mohammad Reza Shah's gap between "haves" and "have nots" to widen. -

Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi announced the ending to the two-party system. -
Jimmy Carter... Student protest
Iranian students broke into a protest when the United States President Jimmy Carter was in Iran visiting. Student demand for the return of Ayatollah Khomeini would be allowed for him to enter Iran. Open fire by police killed 70 students. -
Another protest
Over 100 people killed in Tabriz, when protest struck out towards the government, during Iranians contribute towards the dead students. -
Tragedy struck
Over 100 more demonstators were killed in Yazd, while commemorating the dead students of Tabriz. -
More deaths
Firing on Tehran demonstrations killing several hundred people by Iranian troops. -
Imprisonment
Declaring martial law, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi imprisoned opposition leaders. -
Crippling
Workers in Iran struck and started to cripple the nation. -
A celebration
The celebration of the month of Martyrdom, called Muhurram, began. During this time demonstrators stopped government buildings, shut down buisnesses, and assassinated government officials. -
Fleeing
Pahlavi fled because of millions calling for his death. -

The return of Iranian Ayatollah Khomeini. -
Taking and Wanting
53 hostages were taken by revolutionary militants, corrupting the United States Embassy. In return of getting back the American hostages they wanted the Shah. -
Death of the Shah
At the age of 60, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi passed away in Egypt. -
End to the crisis at hand
The American hostages were returned to the United States and the Hostage crisis ended.
